What you can do before starting your free trial

Short answer

New accounts get a free preview: one upload (a PDF, document, recording, audio, video or YouTube link) and the study kit Duetoday builds from it, plus up to 10 Galileo messages a day about it. You don't need a card for the preview. To add more material or use the rest of Duetoday, start the 7-day free trial.

Before you start

  • Who gets the preview: any new account that has never started a trial or subscription.
  • Plan needed: none.

What the free preview includes

  • One upload of any kind: a PDF, Word document, text file, audio or video file, YouTube video or live lecture recording.
  • The study kit Duetoday builds from it: a summary, a study guide, flashcards and a quiz.
  • Chatting with Galileo about that upload, up to 10 AI messages a day.
  • Generating more flashcards, quizzes and mind maps from that same upload.

Some parts of a long transcript or chapter list can show as a preview with an Upgrade prompt. Starting the trial unlocks the rest.

What needs the 7-day free trial

  • A second upload, recording or link.
  • Podcasts, songs and most other tools.
  • The calendar, Canvas, teacher tools and settings pages. If you open one, a screen explains that it’s part of the full plan, with Back to my dashboard if you’re not ready.

Steps: start the trial when you’re ready

  1. Open the trial screen. It appears when you choose something outside the preview, or choose Upgrade in your profile menu.
  2. Pick Monthly or Annually. Annually saves 45% ($99 a year instead of $15 a month).
  3. Check the timeline. The screen shows today (nothing charged), the date we email you a reminder, and the date your plan starts.
  4. Choose Start Free Trial. You go to secure Stripe checkout to add a card. Have a STUDENT50 code? Enter it there. See student discount.
  5. Come back to Duetoday. Everything is unlocked straight away.

Tips

  • Pick your best material for the preview. A real lecture or chapter you’re studying now shows you the most.
  • Not ready? Choose Not now or Keep viewing my study kit. Your study kit stays in your account.

If something goes wrong

  • The trial screen keeps appearing on every page. Your trial or a past subscription has ended, so the preview no longer applies. Choose Subscribe Now, or sign out. See free trial, plans and billing.
  • The preview upload failed. See upload stuck or failed. It doesn’t use up your preview.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a card for the free preview?

No. You only add a card when you start the 7-day free trial.

My preview upload failed. Have I lost my free preview?

No. Failed uploads don't count. Upload the file again, or try a different file.

Can I get the preview again after my trial ends?

No. The preview is only for accounts that have never had a trial or subscription. After a trial or subscription ends, you need to subscribe to keep using Duetoday.

Is the preview the same as a free plan?

No. Duetoday has no free plan. The preview lets you see what Duetoday makes from your own material before you decide on the trial.
