Uploading and recording

Your study kit: summary, study guide, flashcards, quiz

Last updated · 2 min read

Short answer

After every upload, link or recording, Galileo builds a study kit automatically: a summary, a study guide, a set of flashcards and a practice quiz. A progress card in the chat shows each step. The summary appears in the Summary tab; everything else appears under Generated in the Galileo panel. We also email you when it's ready.

Before you start

  • Plan needed: your free preview includes the study kit for your first upload. After that, the trial or a subscription is needed.

What’s in the kit

PartWhere to find it
SummaryThe Summary tab at the top of the session.
Study guideUnder Generated in the Galileo panel, and in the chat.
FlashcardsUnder Generated in the Galileo panel.
QuizUnder Generated in the Galileo panel.
Transcript and chapters (audio, video, YouTube)The Transcript, Video or YouTube tab.

Steps

  1. Add your material from the dashboard with Upload, Record, Paste or Link.
  2. Follow the progress card. Galileo shows steps such as “Upload PDF”, “Parse pages”, “Index for chat” and “Ready to chat”. For recordings, transcription comes first.
  3. Wait for “Ready”. Galileo writes “I turned this into a clean summary you can open and review.”
  4. Open the Summary tab to read it.
  5. Open the rest from Generated in the Galileo panel on the right. Choose any item to open it.
  6. Check your email. We send a “study kit ready” email with a link back to the session.

Tips

  • Ask AI Tutor unlocks when the source is ready. Until then its button says “Unlocks when source is ready”.
  • Find past kits under History, in the Artifacts tab.
  • Use the Artifacts button (paperclip) at the top of a session to see everything made in that session.

Limits

  • Documents have about 3 minutes to be read, and audio or video about 15 minutes to be transcribed, before processing stops.
  • The kit is made from your material only. If the material is thin (a few slides), the kit will be thin too.

If something goes wrong

  • “Source still preparing”. Galileo hasn’t finished reading your file. Wait a minute and try again.
  • “No flashcards were produced” or “No quiz could be generated”. The source didn’t have enough content. Try Flashcards or Quiz again, or upload fuller material.
  • The progress card says failed. See upload stuck or failed.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to wait on the page?

No. Processing carries on in the background. You can close the tab and we'll email you when your study kit is ready.

Can I make more flashcards or a different quiz?

Yes. Choose Flashcards or Quiz in the Galileo panel at any time, or choose Customize to set the number, difficulty and focus.

Can I regenerate the summary?

Yes. Choose the plus button next to the tabs, then the regenerate button next to Summary.
