How Duetoday does each step

What to do each week, and where to click.

Week 1: upload everything, get notes and summaries

Start with the material you'll be examined on: lecture recordings, slides, readings, handouts and past papers. Upload a PDF or Word file, paste a YouTube link, or record a lecture live in Duetoday.

Every upload gets a study kit automatically: a summary, a study guide, a set of flashcards and a practice quiz. By the end of the week you have notes for the whole course, built from what your lecturer actually said.

  • Slides: export PowerPoint or Keynote as a PDF first. PDFs can be up to 2,000 pages.
  • Skim each summary and mark the topics you don't recognise. That's your list for weeks 2 and 3.

Week 2: flashcards, reviewed after 1, 3 and 7 days

Make a deck for each topic from its upload. Choose Customize to set the number of cards (10 to 50), the difficulty and the focus, so the deck covers what your exam covers.

Test yourself on a new deck the day you make it, then again after 1, 3 and 7 days. Each review is shorter than the last, and the cards you keep missing are the ones to take into week 3.

  • Duetoday doesn't schedule card reviews for you yet, so put the 1, 3 and 7-day reviews in your calendar.
  • Use Review Again to go back through a deck, and make a fresh deck with Focus set on the topics you keep missing.

Week 3: practice tests, then ask Galileo about every wrong answer

Take a practice quiz on each topic. Set 10 to 50 questions, the difficulty and the question type, and use Hint or Learn More only when you're properly stuck.

When you get a question wrong, ask Galileo why. Galileo answers from your own uploaded material and cites it, so the explanation matches your course, not a generic web answer.

  • Try asking: "Explain why my answer was wrong, using my lecture notes."
  • Retake a quiz a few days later. If the same questions still trip you up, go back to the cards for that topic.

Week 4: crash course and timed practice tests

Generate a crash course from the uploads for your weakest topics. Galileo writes a short course chapter by chapter, with a Quick Quiz after each one and a Final Exam at the end.

Then sit full practice tests in exam conditions: set a timer for the time you'll have in the exam, no notes, no hints. Review every mistake with Galileo the same day.

  • Quizzes don't have a built-in timer, so use your phone or a kitchen timer.
  • Keep the last two days for light review of your flashcards and sleep. Cramming new material now costs more than it gains.

Student stories

Over 7,000 students revise with Duetoday.

From recorded lectures to the night before the final, here's what students say about studying with it.

R
Ravi S. Imperial College London · Biomedical Engineering

The flashcards it generates from my recordings are scarily accurate. It picks out exactly the kind of things that end up on exams.

J
Jake M. University of Sydney · Computer Science

I asked it to quiz me on everything from my recorded algorithms lectures. It generated 40 MCQs from what my actual lecturer said. Passed my midterm without reading the textbook once.

L
Lara K. University of Edinburgh · Biology

I watch CrashCourse the night before exams. Duetoday turns 18 minutes of video into flashcards I can actually drill. Passed my biochem final for the first time.

FAQ

Exam prep questions

Is 30 days enough time to prepare for my exams?

For most university and school exams, yes, if you spend it testing yourself rather than rereading. The plan front-loads the setup (week 1), then spends three weeks on active recall: flashcards, practice tests and timed practice. If your exam has its own format, like the MCAT or A-levels, use the study hub for it alongside this plan.

What if I only have a week or two?

Do week 1 in a day or two: upload everything and read the summaries. Then go straight to practice tests on each topic, ask Galileo about every wrong answer, and finish with a crash course on your weakest topics and one timed practice test.

Does Duetoday schedule my flashcard reviews?

Not automatically yet. Review a new deck the day you make it, then after 1, 3 and 7 days, and put those reviews in your calendar. Use Review Again to go back through a deck.

Can I upload my lecture slides?

Yes. Export PowerPoint or Keynote slides as a PDF first, then upload the PDF. PDFs can be up to 2,000 pages. You can also upload Word files, paste YouTube links or record a lecture live.

Can Duetoday remind me how long I have left?

Yes. Set your exam date in Duetoday and your dashboard shows how many days are left. You can change the date any time from the dashboard banner.

How much does Duetoday cost?

Every account starts with a 7-day free trial of Pro (card required; cancel before it ends to pay nothing). After that it's $99 a year (about $8.25 a month) or $15 a month.
