Rename, move, export and delete Galileo sessions

Last updated · 1 min read

Short answer

Use the buttons in the top-right corner of a Galileo session: the pencil to rename it, the folder to move it to a folder, the download button for Export PDF or Export DOCX, the paperclip to see its Artifacts, and the bin to delete it. Choose History in the sidebar to find, search and filter all your sessions, files and generated items.

Before you start

  • Plan needed: History and session tools need the 7-day free trial or a subscription. During the free preview you can still open your preview session.

Steps

Rename a session

  1. Open the session and choose the pencil button (Rename session) in the top-right corner.
  2. Type a new name under “Update how this Galileo session appears in your chat list” and choose Save title.

Move a session to a folder

  1. Choose the folder button (Move to folder).
  2. Pick the folder. The session now appears in that folder in your sidebar.

Export a session

  1. Choose the download button (Export session).
  2. Choose Export PDF or Export DOCX. The file downloads to your computer.

See everything in a session

  1. Choose the paperclip button (Artifacts).
  2. The panel lists “Uploads, lectures, and generated artifacts”. Choose one to open it.

Delete a session

  1. Choose the bin button (Delete session).
  2. Read the warning: “This removes the chat, generated messages, and attached Galileo sources for this session.”
  3. Confirm to delete, or choose Not now.

Browse History

  1. Choose History in the sidebar.
  2. Switch between Galileo Sessions, Files and Artifacts.
  3. Search with the search box, filter by type (All modes, Tutor, Research), and by date (All time, Last 7 days, Older). Sort by Newest or Oldest.
  4. Choose Select to pick several items at once, or + New Galileo to start a new session.

Tips

  • Name sessions by course and week, such as “BIO101 Week 4 – Cell respiration”, so search finds them fast.
  • Export before deleting if there’s anything you might want later.

If something goes wrong

  • The buttons are greyed out. You’re viewing a session you can’t manage (for example while it’s still loading). Wait a moment or reload.
  • I can’t find a session. See can’t find my notes.

Frequently asked questions

What does deleting a session remove?

The chat, Galileo's messages and the sources attached to that session. It can't be undone, so export anything you want to keep first.

What's in Artifacts?

Everything in that session: your upload or lecture, and the flashcards, quizzes, mind maps, podcasts, documents and courses made from it.

Can I see my old chats?

Yes. Choose the clock button (Chat history) in the top-left corner of a session, or go to History in the sidebar.
