Troubleshooting

Can't find my notes or sessions?

Last updated · 1 min read

Short answer

Choose History in the sidebar: Galileo Sessions lists every chat, Files lists every upload and recording, and Artifacts lists every flashcard deck, quiz, mind map and document. Use the search box and filters there. Web page imports and older notes are in your folders (General by default). If nothing shows, check you're signed in to the right account.

Before you start

  • Check the account. Your name at the bottom of the sidebar shows who you’re signed in as.

Steps

  1. Open History in the sidebar.
  2. Pick the right tab:
    • Galileo Sessions for chats and uploads (each upload opens its own session).
    • Files for PDFs, audio, video and other uploads.
    • Artifacts for flashcards, quizzes, documents and other things Galileo made.
  3. Search with the search box, and set filters to All time and All modes, All files or All artifacts so nothing is hidden.
  4. Check your folders in the sidebar, starting with General, for web page imports and notes.
  5. Use the sidebar search (“Search notes, canvas, folders…”) for notes and Canvas boards.
  6. Open a session’s Artifacts (paperclip button) to see everything made from one upload.

Tips

  • Rename sessions with clear course names so they’re easy to find.
  • Move sessions into folders with Move to folder.

If something goes wrong

  • History is empty. You may be in a different account. Sign out and try your other sign-in method (email, Google, Microsoft or Apple).
  • A session shows “No source yet”. The upload failed or was deleted. Upload the file again.
  • Something disappeared that you didn’t delete. Contact support with what’s missing and roughly when you made it.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my note in General?

New notes go to General, and deleting a folder moves its notes back to General.

Can I recover something I deleted?

No. Deleted sessions and notes can't be restored. Export important work as PDF or DOCX to keep a copy.

My notes are on my laptop but not my phone.

Sign in with the same method on both. A different method can create a second, empty account.
