Galileo AI tutor

View your source, summary and transcript in Galileo

Last updated · 2 min read

Short answer

Every Galileo session with a source has tabs at the top: Galileo for the chat, a source tab (PDF, Transcript, Video or YouTube) showing the original with chapters and timestamps, and Summary for the automatic summary. Choose View PDF or Transcript in the Galileo panel to reopen the source next to the chat.

Before you start

  • A session with a source. Sessions started with a typed question only have the Galileo tab.
  • Plan needed: the free preview shows your preview source; long transcripts are partly locked until you start the trial.

The tabs

TabWhat it shows
GalileoYour chat with the tutor.
PDFThe original PDF, page by page.
TranscriptAudio transcript with timestamps, speakers and chapters.
Video / YouTubeThe video with its transcript and Chapters.
SourceText from a Word or text file.
SummaryThe automatic summary of your source.

Live lecture recordings open on Summary first; reopen the lecture with Transcript in the Galileo panel.

Steps

  1. Open a session from History or straight after an upload.
  2. Choose a tab at the top to switch between the chat, the source and the summary.
  3. Jump through a recording. Choose a chapter, or a line in the transcript, to move the player to that moment.
  4. Follow a citation. When Galileo cites your source in the chat, click the citation to open that place in the source.
  5. Open the source beside the chat. In the Galileo panel choose View PDF or Transcript.
  6. Rename a speaker. Choose the speaker label, then Edit Speaker Name, type a Display name and choose Save.

Tips

  • Chapter titles improve after processing. You may see “Refining AI titles…” for a moment.
  • Ask about a timestamp: “Summarise 20:00 to 30:00”.

If something goes wrong

  • “No source yet. Upload a source and Galileo will open it here.” This session doesn’t have a source. Upload from the dashboard to start a session with one.
  • “Preview unavailable”. A side panel couldn’t load; your chat is still fine. Reload the page.
  • “No transcript is available for this lecture yet.” The recording is still processing or nothing was captured. See audio and transcription problems.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my transcript stop part way with an Upgrade message?

During the free preview, long transcripts and chapter lists show the opening part only. Start the free trial to see the rest.

Can I rename speakers?

Yes. In a transcript, choose a speaker label, type a Display name and choose Save.

Can I download the transcript?

Copy it with the copy button in a saved lecture, or export the whole session with Export PDF or Export DOCX.
