Creating notes

How to turn a PDF or slides into notes in Duetoday

Duetoday Help Centre · Updated

Short answer

Choose New Note, then Upload file, and pick your PDF, Word document or slide deck. Duetoday reads the document and creates structured notes. From the note you can generate flashcards, a quiz or a mind map, or ask Galileo questions about the document.

Steps

  1. Open your dashboard and choose New Note.
  2. Choose Upload file. You can usually also drag a file onto the upload area.
  3. Select the document. PDFs, Word documents and slide decks all work.
  4. Wait while Duetoday reads it. Processing time depends on the length of the file.
  5. Open the finished note. You will see structured notes built from the document, organised by topic.
  6. Generate study tools. From the note, choose Flashcards, Quiz or Mind Map, or open Galileo to ask questions about the document.

Tips

  • Lecture slides are short on context. Slides often hold bullet points without the explanation. Pair them with a lecture recording or ask Galileo to expand a slide in plain English.
  • Split very long PDFs by chapter. One note per chapter makes flashcards and quizzes easier to target before a specific exam.
  • Keep the file name meaningful. It becomes a quick way to find the note later.
  • Check diagrams and equations. Visual content in documents does not always translate perfectly into text notes, so glance back at the original for figures you need to memorise.

Frequently asked questions

Which document types can I upload?

PDFs, Word documents and slide decks such as PowerPoint, as well as audio and video files. You can also add web pages and YouTube videos by pasting a link.

Can I upload a whole textbook chapter?

Yes. Long documents take a little longer to process. If you only need one section, uploading just that chapter gives you tighter, more focused notes.

Is my uploaded document private?

Yes. Uploaded content is private by default and is not used to train AI models. See the privacy article for more detail.
