How to create a practice test in Duetoday

Duetoday Help Centre · Updated

Short answer

Open a note and choose Quiz, or go to practice tests and paste or select your study material, then choose Generate Practice Test. Duetoday writes questions from your own material and explains each answer, so you learn from mistakes as you go.

Steps

  1. Open the note you want to be tested on, or open practice tests from the app.
  2. Choose Quiz or Generate Practice Test. If you start from practice tests, paste your notes or lecture content, or pick an existing note.
  3. Adjust the settings that are offered, such as the number of questions.
  4. Generate the test. Duetoday writes questions from your material.
  5. Answer each question before looking at the explanation.
  6. Read every explanation, including for questions you got right; a lucky guess is still a gap.
  7. Return to the weak topics. Ask Galileo to explain them, or generate flashcards focused on that topic.

Tips

  • Test yourself before you feel ready. Retrieval practice works best when it is a little hard.
  • Simulate exam conditions once. Before a big exam, take a full test without notes and with a timer.
  • Generate a fresh test after a few days rather than repeating the same one, so you are not just remembering the questions.
  • Track the topics you miss and turn them into a short focused flashcard deck.

Frequently asked questions

Are the questions based on my material or general knowledge?

They are generated from the note or material you choose, so they reflect what your course actually covered.

Do I see why an answer is wrong?

Yes. Practice quizzes and tests come with explanations, so you see why the correct answer is right after you respond.

How is a practice test different from flashcards?

Flashcards train recall of individual facts. A practice test checks whether you can recognise and apply ideas in question form, which is closer to the exam itself.
