How to run a live classroom quiz in Duetoday

Duetoday Help Centre · Updated

Short answer

In the teacher area open Live Quizzes and create a live quiz from your content. Start the session to get a join code, ask students to go to duetoday.ai/join and enter it, then start the quiz once everyone is in. Questions run in real time and you see final rankings at the end.

Before class

Create and check the quiz in advance. A two-minute preview catches a confusing question before thirty students see it.

Steps

  1. Open the teacher area in Duetoday on a laptop or desktop.
  2. Go to Live Quizzes and choose to create a live quiz.
  3. Choose your content. Use your own material, a YouTube link or a web page.
  4. Set the quiz options. Choose question types, grade level, difficulty, language and whether to include hints. You can also align questions to a standards set and add a note students see when they join.
  5. Generate and preview the questions. Check every question against your lesson and regenerate or adjust the settings if something does not fit.
  6. Start the session and put the join code on your classroom display.
  7. Students go to duetoday.ai/join, enter the code and their name, and wait for you to start.
  8. Run the quiz. Questions appear in real time; move through them at your pace.
  9. Review the results and final rankings, and note the questions most students missed for your next lesson.

Tips

  • Use it as a retrieval starter at the beginning of a lesson to check what stuck from last time.
  • Keep it short. Five to ten questions is enough to check understanding without eating the lesson.
  • Talk through the hardest question straight after the quiz while it is fresh.
  • Pair with lesson resources. Generate the lesson and the quiz from the same content so they line up.
