Before you start
- A laptop or desktop.
- Student work as files, ideally named after each student (for example “Emma Johnson.pdf”).
- Plan needed: the 7-day free trial or a subscription.
Steps
- Open AI Grading. In Teach Mode, choose Teaching Studio, then AI Grading.
- Choose Set Up Assignment.
- Fill in Assignment Details: Name, Grade level, Subject and Assignment description (paste the prompt you gave students).
- Select a rubric.
- Create Rubric: choose a Point Scale, describe the Rubric criteria (for example “thesis clarity, use of evidence, grammar”) and let Duetoday generate it. Edit the Generated Rubric if needed.
- Upload Rubric: add your own rubric file.
- Choose Feedback Options: Glows & Grows, Next Steps and/or Score Breakdown.
- Add Student Submissions. Choose Upload PDF files, Upload DOCX / DOC files, Upload TXT files or Import CSV. Names are taken from file names.
- Start grading. When it’s done, review each student’s score and feedback, edit anything you disagree with, then share it.
Tips
- Write clear criteria. The more specific your rubric, the more consistent the grades.
- Spot-check a few papers by hand before trusting a whole batch.
- Watch the tutorial under Learn on the AI Grading page (“Watch tutorial (2 min)”, “How AI grading works”, “Rubric best practices”).
If something goes wrong
- A student shows as “Unnamed”. Rename the file to the student’s name and upload it again.
- Feedback seems off. Check the rubric and assignment description, then regrade that student.
- Can’t find an assignment. Use Search assignments and the subject and grade filters.
