Card declined or payment failed at trial end

Short answer

If a payment fails, you keep access for now and Duetoday shows 'Your last payment didn't go through.' at the top of the screen. Choose Update card, add a working card in the Stripe billing portal, and Stripe retries the payment. If the payment still fails after the retries, your plan ends and you'll need to choose Subscribe Now.

Before you start

A working card, or a word with your bank about the declined payment.

Steps

Look for the banner at the top of Duetoday: “Your last payment didn’t go through. Update your card to keep your subscription active.”
Choose Update card. The Stripe billing portal opens.
Add a new card or update the details of your current one, and make it the default.
Wait for the retry. Stripe retries the payment automatically. Once it succeeds, the banner disappears.
No banner? Open Settings, Subscription, then Manage Subscription to update your card there.

Tips

Tell your bank you’re expecting a payment from Duetoday (shown as a Stripe payment) if they block new online merchants.
Use a card that allows international payments. Prices are in US dollars.

If something goes wrong

“Your trial has ended” appears instead. The retries ran out and your plan ended. Choose Subscribe Now → and pay with a working card.
“Unable to open billing portal. Please try again.” Allow pop-ups for duetoday.ai, then try again.
The card keeps being declined. Try a different card, then contact support if it still fails.

Frequently asked questions

Why was my card declined?

Common reasons are not enough funds, an expired card, a card that blocks online or overseas payments, or your bank flagging a new merchant. Your bank can tell you the exact reason.

Will I lose my notes?

No. Even if your plan ends, your work stays in your account. Subscribe again to get back in.

I subscribed in the app. How do I fix a failed payment?

Update your payment method in the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android). Duetoday shows a banner reminding you to do this.
