How study streaks work

Last updated · 1 min read

Short answer

Your streak counts the days in a row you open Duetoday while signed in. Open it again the next day and the streak goes up by one; miss a day and it starts again from one. You can see your streak in the note view on the web and in the Streak tab and home-screen widget of the mobile app.

Before you start

  • Plan needed: none. Streaks count for any signed-in account.

Steps

  1. Open Duetoday while signed in. Your streak updates automatically.
  2. See your streak on the web. Open a note and choose the streak button (a lightning bolt with a number) at the top to see your current streak, Max streak and Notes Generated.
  3. See it on your phone. In the mobile app, open the Streak screen for your streak, Daily Goal, Total XP, Skills Done and Days Active.
  4. Add the widget (iPhone). Add the Study Streak widget to your home screen to “See your streak and today’s study progress at a glance.”
  5. Keep it going. “Complete any activity today.” Even five minutes with a flashcard deck counts.

Tips

  • Turn on reminders in the mobile app (Settings, Reminders) to get a “Time to study!” nudge at a time you choose.
  • Pair the streak with a tiny habit, such as one flashcard deck after dinner.

If something goes wrong

  • My streak didn’t go up. Sign out and back in, or reload the page, to trigger the update.
  • My streak reset even though I studied. The day may have counted on the server’s date rather than yours. Your longest streak is still saved.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a day?

Opening Duetoday while signed in on any device. Days follow the server's calendar date, so if you study late at night in some time zones a session may count towards the next day.

Can I get a broken streak back?

No. A missed day resets it, but your longest streak is kept.

Will Duetoday tell me if my streak breaks?

Yes. If a streak breaks, we may send a short email so you can start again.
