Turn your material into a crash course

Last updated · 1 min read

Short answer

Open the Galileo session for your upload and choose Generate Crash Course in the Galileo panel. Galileo writes a short course from your material, chapter by chapter, and opens it in a course reader. Work through each chapter, take its Quick Quiz, go deeper where you need to, use the chapter's study tools, then test yourself with the Final Exam.

Before you start

  • A Galileo session with a source. Longer material (a full lecture or chapter) makes a better course.
  • Plan needed: the 7-day free trial or a subscription.

Steps

  1. Open the session for your upload.
  2. Choose Generate Crash Course in the Galileo panel. You’ll see “Generating crash course” and “Galileo is writing the course live. New sections and chapters will appear as they stream in.”
  3. Start the first chapter. Choose it from the chapter list. Read the explanation.
  4. Take the Quick Quiz at the end of the chapter to check you understood it.
  5. Go deeper on any chapter you found hard. Galileo adds a more detailed section.
  6. Use the chapter’s study tools: Flashcards, Study Guide, Podcast or Ask Tutor, made just for that chapter.
  7. Take the Final Exam (“Test the full crash course”) when you’ve finished the chapters. You’ll see your score and can Retake it.

Tips

  • Do one chapter a day in the weeks before an exam.
  • Use the chapter podcast for revision on the bus or at the gym.
  • Retake the Final Exam a few days later to check what has stuck.

If something goes wrong

  • “Course generation failed. Try again.” Choose Generate Crash Course again.
  • “Chapter still loading”. Wait for Galileo to finish writing that chapter before using its study tools.
  • “No chapters ready yet. Generate at least one chapter before taking the Final Exam.” Open a chapter first, then try the Final Exam.
  • “Course sources not available”. The original upload for this course was deleted. Upload it again and build a new course.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a crash course take to build?

Usually a minute or two. Chapters appear as Galileo writes them, and you can start reading the first chapter straight away.

Can I make a course without uploading anything?

Yes. Go to www.duetoday.ai/courses, type a topic in 'Generate a course…' and press Enter. Your courses are listed under My Courses.

Where do I find a course later?

In the session's Artifacts, under Generated in the Galileo panel, or in History under Artifacts.
